Curated by PCR client the Guggenheim’s Poet-in-Residence Taylor Johnson, Spirit of Movement brings together multidisciplinary creators Harmony Holiday, jaamil olawale kosoko, and Jayson P. Smith to explore the intersection of poetry, dance, and choreography. Following brief presentations of their current work, the panelists will come together for a conversation moderated by Johnson that unpacks the relationship between language and performance.

Screening: Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

Celebrate Juneteenth in Harlem with a free, outdoor screening of Oscar-winning documentary Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) in association with former PCR client, the City Parks Foundation. In his filmmaking debut, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.

Summer of Soul premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. It is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

Programming will kick off at 7:00PM with entertainment, and the screening will begin at 8:00PM.

Guggenheim Presents The Red Sheaves: An Evening with Jennie C. Jones, Fred Moten, Brandon Lopez, and Cecilia Lopez

Prasad Consulting & Research client, the Guggenheim Museum, will be hosting a special event on Thursday, March 24 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM EDT:

Join artist Jennie C. Jones and poet Fred Moten for a special evening of dialogue, prose, and music. Following a short conversation with the artist, Moten will provide a reading of “The Red Sheaves,” an experimental poetic text written in response to Jones’s work, performed alongside new songs created in collaboration with musicians Brandon Lopez and Cecilia Lopez.

This program, presented in conjunction with Jennie C. Jones: Dynamics, features a newly revised version of “The Red Sheaves” and interweaves the visual and sonic arts. “The Red Sheaves” was first published in Constant Structure, an artist book produced in collaboration between Jones and Moten on the occasion of the exhibition Jennie C. Jones: Constant Structure at the Arts Club of Chicago in 2020.

Renae Mascol, EMT for providing immeasurable support of the wellbeing of all New Yorkers.

In the series premiere, NYWF welcomes Yolo Akili, founder and executive director of grantee partner Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) to discuss his journey as a leader in progressive wellness work, removing barriers to healing for Black communities, and creating community-based systems of care.
