This year’s program features a timely fireside chat, From Legacy to Leadership: How the Next Generation is Transforming Philanthropy, exploring how emerging donors and new wealth are reshaping giving, redefining nonprofit partnerships, and influencing the future of philanthropy. In conversation with leaders from the Robin Hood Foundation, panelists will examine what today’s donors value and how their evolving priorities are transforming the sector.

The meeting will also include the presentation of the Ralph E. Chamberlain Award to Margaret Holman, recognizing her exceptional leadership and long-standing service to AFP-NYC and the broader philanthropic community.

Prasad Consulting Founder and President Poonam Prasad, a past AFP-NYC Ralph E. Chamberlain Award recipient, has long been engaged with the chapter and its mission to strengthen ethical, effective fundraising. The firm remains committed to advancing the values of leadership, service, and innovation reflected in this annual gathering.

Attendees will also hear from 2026–2027 Chapter President Jenn Moore, who will share insights into AFP-NYC’s priorities and vision for the year ahead.

Giving USA 2025 recently reported on a reassuring upward philanthropic trajectory. However, since then, new developments affecting both local and international nonprofits, have occurred in 2025. What are the implications of the findings and subsequent events on the philanthropic landscape and fundraising?  Prasad Consulting & Research President Poonam Prasad, who serves on the board of the Giving Institute, Editorial Review Board of Giving USA will coordinate a conversation on findings and trends from the 2025 Giving USA report and other recent surveys. She will be joined by a leading expert in wealth and philanthropy who will offer perspective on donor behavior and emerging trends in high-net-worth giving. A panel of senior development executives will share their reactions to the data and discuss best practices for driving philanthropic success throughout 2025 and into 2026.

Women of Color Awards 2025

On June 25th, 2025, Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy (WOC) hosted the 2025 5th Anniversary Annual WOC Awards. Each spring, the WOC community gathers in New York City to celebrate another year of championing women of color in fundraising and philanthropy and to honor several incredible women through the WOC Awards. Poonam Prasad serves on the National Advisory Committee of Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy. 

At this year's WOC Awards, Madeline Lamour Holder received the Catherine Ferguson Philanthropy Award. Madeline Lamour Holder is Vice President of Development at The New York Women’s Foundation, a longtime PCR client. In her role, Madeline works to identify and cultivate philanthropic opportunities to expand partnerships with individual donors in New York City. We are so proud to have worked with Madeline for more than 15 years!

Poonam Prasad also had the honor of introducing the WOC 2025 Spotlight Award Honoree, an inspiring young professional in the field of fundraising and philanthropy, Sabrina Hua.

Poonam Prasad Receives AFP's Chamberlain Award

Poonam Prasad, Recipient of AFP’s Chamberlain Award

PCR President Poonam Prasad was unanimously voted the NYC Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals' 2024 Ralph E. Chamberlain Award Recipient. The Ralph E. Chamberlain Award is designed to honor an area fundraising professional for a lifetime of service to the fundraising profession and to AFP and the NYC Chapter. Poonam joined an illustrious and impressive group of Ralph E. Chamberlain Awardees.

The award was presented at the AFP-NYC Chapter Annual Meeting on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 8:30AM - 11AM, at Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue. The program included remarks from the new AFP-NYC Chapter President Craig Shelley. The award presentation and Poonam’s acceptance speech were followed by a panel on the Outlook for 2024 and the Impact on Fundraising. The event concluded with an exclusive performance by Broad Comedy.

Celebrate Juneteenth in Harlem with a free, outdoor screening of Oscar-winning documentary Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) in association with former PCR client, the City Parks Foundation. In his filmmaking debut, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful documentary about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.

Summer of Soul premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. It is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

Programming will kick off at 7:00PM with entertainment, and the screening will begin at 8:00PM.

Guggenheim Presents The Red Sheaves: An Evening with Jennie C. Jones, Fred Moten, Brandon Lopez, and Cecilia Lopez

Prasad Consulting & Research client, the Guggenheim Museum, will be hosting a special event on Thursday, March 24 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM EDT:

Join artist Jennie C. Jones and poet Fred Moten for a special evening of dialogue, prose, and music. Following a short conversation with the artist, Moten will provide a reading of “The Red Sheaves,” an experimental poetic text written in response to Jones’s work, performed alongside new songs created in collaboration with musicians Brandon Lopez and Cecilia Lopez.

This program, presented in conjunction with Jennie C. Jones: Dynamics, features a newly revised version of “The Red Sheaves” and interweaves the visual and sonic arts. “The Red Sheaves” was first published in Constant Structure, an artist book produced in collaboration between Jones and Moten on the occasion of the exhibition Jennie C. Jones: Constant Structure at the Arts Club of Chicago in 2020.
