Women in Development (WID) annual Woman of Achievement Award Luncheon

On May 16th, 2025, Women in Development (WID) hosted the annual Woman of Achievement Award Luncheon where they recognize and promote the achievements of a distinguished colleague who has demonstrated extraordinary service to the field of development and philanthropy.

The 2025 honoree was Bertina Ceccarelli, longtime friend and former client of Prasad Consulting and Research. Bertina is the Chief Executive Officer of NPower, a national tech training and job placement nonprofit, rooted in community, and on a mission to advance equity in the tech industry. She joined NPower in 2016 with a passion to disrupt the status quo and build more inclusive workplaces. Under her visionary leadership, NPower has grown six-fold, expanding their proven program to several new cities.

WID also honored two Rising Stars in the field of fundraising and development. One of this year's Rising Star Recipients was Taylor Ross, Prasad Consulting & Research alumnus and Senior Development Executive at UJA Federation of New York. In her fundraising role she creates donor strategies, serves as liaison to Major Gifts to increase household giving, and manages her own portfolio of donors.

Congratulations to Bertina Ceccarelli and Taylor Ross on these well-deserved honors!

Hot Off The Press! Giving USA 2025
As a supporter of the Giving USA Foundation and member firm of the The Giving Institute, Prasad Consulting & Research is excited to announce today's release of Giving USA 2025. Our President, Poonam Prasad serves on the Editorial Review Board and contributed some comments to the Giving to Individuals section of the Good to Know chapter. PCR Team Member Kelly Evers serves on the Advisory Council on Methodology External Peer Review Board

The report provides extensive giving data and a comprehensive overview and analysis of US donors’ enduring generosity in 2024. Total estimated charitable giving in the United States reached $592.50 billion in 2024. Total giving grew by 6.3% in current dollars, and grew by 3.3% when adjusted for inflation, buoyed by a strong stock market and GDP growth. The increase in total giving, was led by increases in individual and corporate giving.

For the first time in the last three years, total giving outpaced inflation as inflation rates moderated from those seen in recent years. However, despite a 6.3% growth in current dollars, and although total giving reaching a new high by that measure, adjusted for inflation, giving increased by only 3.3%. The inflation-adjusted record-high year for total giving remains 2021, during the depths of the pandemic when US donors rallied mightily to alleviate suffering both here and abroad.
